How we shipped seven million roses 🌹 for Valentine’s Day!

The meaning.

Valentine’s Day is an occasion to celebrate love ❤️ Not only couple love but of every kind. Sometimes we get so busy with our jobs in our daily lives that we forget to show appreciation for our loved ones. Also not every day you can give or send a present for those special ones. Valentine’s Day is around the corner and it is a reminder for most of us that love is what we are here for. We at this time of the year think about being with the people we care about and how good it feels when you take the time and the effort to show you care. What we can give is the constant for this season and flowers are one of the most beautiful things one could think of. They come from the earth with all kinds of colors, smells, shapes and vibrations that brings beauty and joy to our lives. If you think about beautifying a place or somebody’s view one of the most popular choices are floral arrangements. Some say when you give flowers to someone this represents feelings of love towards them. Roses are a favorite for love gifts. For example people relate roses with kinds of feelings or emotions, red roses means passion, white roses purity, pink roses joy and happiness, orange roses energy, desire, excitement, and so on. The truth is that the meaning and use people give to roses it is not limited and that makes them a perfect gift for this occasion.

The work.

I’ve been busy all this week from the first of February to the ninth since the agency sent me to fulfill this work. I wasn’t able to post for a while. But I am proudly announcing today our achievements for this season. At this time of the year I happily write my experience with what has been the most challenging job I’ve done so far. Not only for my body but for my mind and soul and everything around. This past week I’ve been working in a big project with a company named The Elite Flower. We have been shipping approximately seven million (7 000 000) roses in 4 days for this season to all parts of United Estates of America. One hundred and seventy three (173) big trucks we prepared and delivered. They were loaded with boxes of the best quality roses in US. Roses imported from Colombia 🇨🇴, Ecuador 🇪🇨 and Kenya 🇰🇪. Only in United States 🇺🇸 around 4000 employees have been working for this plan and 1000 only in my current location in Miami, FL. We did this for a big Walmart order to distribute through all the country.

The people.

My fellow Latin American people and those from different parts of the world have been working hard in the cold 🥶 under low temperatures and a big pressure to meet all the requirements of this complex process. To all production workers from packers, to shippers, to all that managed the paper work, to the drivers and those in charge. We’ve excelled the expectation keeping the margin of error to the minimum by not allowing distractions and by doing a great team work. We been putting all our energy into this work and into these flowers. So I hope that if you are reading this and you are thinking of buying flowers from Walmart, especially roses for this 2020 San Valentine’s Season, you can feel all the energy we put into making all of this perfect for you. To my coworkers for this season, thank you all for your support and effort. You are an awesome team of hard working people dedicated to succeeding in life. I am grateful for being here with you all.

The challenge

Honestly I didn’t think I could make it. I had two days to prepare before the challenge began. I never worked this position before for a project so big. My responsibility was to make sure the temperature of the roses was always between 34 and 37 degrees with a set point of 35. And to make sure the trucks leave the base with all the requirements meet. And to take pictures as a report of all of that. I did the peak day around 30,000 steps. That is like more than 11.0 miles from 6:30 am to 1:00 am. Non stop, sleeping around 4 hours each day and dealing with an intense body pain and a bit of bad weather in the morning. My hand got hurt. Some delays made it even better for the challenge to grow in the middle of the work. But we knew we had each other’s backs no matter what. We were confident about how reliable we are. And we knew that when we say yes to something we finish that. I prayed for Jesus help to get us through this. So amen 🙏 we are now victorious in our labor. Is all thanks to God and the people in my life that I was able to make it.
